Remarks: This description referts to the default settings for your device. If you are in doubt, perform a "User Disk Clear" operation to delete all wrong settings from the device (see section "Memory Management" for further details).
If you want to access the Internet through your corporate WLAN and you need to configure proxy settings, you can either use the WLAN Settings utility or the Windows Zero Configuration. For the Windows Zero Configuration you can find a description below. The WLAN Settings utility is described in the Software Manual. Please, note: For the WLAN Settings utility you need latest Service Pack and Patches.
First, go to START, SETTINGS, CONNECTIONS, and activate "WLAN Power" (do not use "WLAN Settings"). Then, open "Connections". Select "Set up my proxy server" under "My Work Network". Place a checkmark into both boxes and tap on [Advanced].
Tap on "HTTP" to open the settings for the HTTP Proxy. Enter IP address and port number of your server. Make additional settings if necessary. Confirm all your setttings by pressing 4 times [ok].
Open "Wi-Fi" (or "Network Cards"), and make the settings for WLAN. Select "Add New..." to create a new entry. Enter the SSID of your WLAN as network name. Important: Select "Work" beneath "Connects to". Do not use "The Internet". Press [Next].
In the next step configure the network authentication. In the sample below we used WPA-PSK, but that might differ from your actual requirements. Press [Next], and then [Finish].
You are ready now to access the Internet through the Internet Explorer. Please, bear in mind that you must not use the WLAN Settings utility concurrently. The WLAN Settings utility creates a configuration file that has a higher priority than the Windows Zero Configuration. If such a configuration file already exists, you must delete it in oder to enable the settings from Windows Zero Configuration. |
